Drips, drops, puddles, and spills. These words alone can make us cringe, even more so when they are landing on the floors in our favorite rooms! From soda and wine to knocked-over pet water bowls and wet towels, standing liquid has always been capable of causing damage to our pristine surfaces.

Sometimes these situations are caused by residents (who we scream at) and sometimes they are caused by guests (who we don’t scream at). Thankfully, we don’t have to scream at anyone, anymore: The full line of DuraDecor’s attractive vinyl looks offers premium water resistance around the clock for spill and stain protection whenever chaos strikes!

Laundry Room with washer and dryerThis means that DuraDecor floors are safe for water-prone areas like the kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, and mudroom. All you have to do is simply wipe up spills and standing liquid as soon as you see it.

And as we highlighted in our Spring Cleaning 101 blog post, you can also mop or Swiffer WetJet® DuraDecor floors as you see fit!

So how does it work? How come valuable, versatile vinyl floors can resist water when other flooring types can’t? Well, let’s take a deeper look into all the awesomeness of your fav DuraDecor style…

For starters, vinyl itself is a naturally nonporous, waterproof material. Wood, stone, and tile can all absorb moisture, but vinyl resists liquid, humidity, and temperature change without damage.

DuraDecor vinyl planks that feature easy-to-install locking mechanisms to form an air-tight connection when installed, will lock out liquid from penetrating your floor from the top or bottom. These waterproof floors will not let liquids penetrate the flooring regardless of the amount of time a spill or water sits on top of the floor!

DuraDecor’s waterproof Modern Maven Collection, Classy Chic Collection, and Rigid Core Polished Pro optionsfeature solid polymer core (SPC) construction that provides the ultimate waterproof protection against moisture. SPC flooring, also called stone plastic composite, features a rigid core made from powdered limestone, polyvinyl chloride, and stabilizers. In addition to resisting swells and contraction, this waterproof core is compact and dense for excellent dent resistance and durability.

The ever-popular Weekend Warrior Collection of peel-and-stick planks and glue-down Polished Pro options also offer outstanding water resistance in your home.

Water-resistant floors will still handle moisture better than other flooring types, but a spill can eventually penetrate the flooring and damage the planks if left unattended for extended periods of time. As long as you wipe up any spills, accidents, or standing water promptly when you discover them, your water-resistant floors will handle the moisture with no problem!

Although natural stone and hardwood are not a good fit in moisture-prone areas, your DuraDecor floors allow you to have your favorite look across an entire floorplan. These floors prevent stains from forming and make regular cleanup a breeze, which also makes them a great fit for an active home with kids, pets, and plenty of fun get-togethers.

That’s why we don’t believe in crying over spilled milk or spills of any kind because we know that our DuraDecor planks will be fine! We can admit that we don’t like spilling milkshakes though. Not being able to finish every drop of our favorite Oreo cookie shake is a crime.

OK, we’re going to get milkshakes now- Byeeeeee!
